Tom Hardy Set to Topline ‘Splinter Cell’ Adaptation

Back in 2004 I wrote moved over to Dreamworks, after which it was never really heard from again… until now.

Variety reports the film has found new life and a star in Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) and a screenwriter in Eric Warren Singer (The International) who most recently wrote American Bullshit, which will be David O. Russell‘s next film starring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner. Yet, neither a studio or director have yet to be named, though gamemaker Ubisoft has discussed the adaptation with both Paramount and Warner Bros.

Should things work out, Hardy would play Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops operation called Echelon.

This is the second major feature adaptation for Ubisoft recently with Michael Fassbender spear-heading a feature adaptation of Assassin’s Creed over at New Regency and Fox.
