Oscar Links: Gyllenhaal’s ‘End of Watch’ Prep, Affleck Changes ‘Argo’ Postscript and More Foreign Entries

Jake Gyllenhaal‘s prep for End of Watch included ride-alongs with police officers, the first of which involved witnessing a murder. [Hit Fix]

Ben Affleck has changed the postscript on Argo to appease Ken Taylor, Canada’s former ambassador to Iran, which originally painted the operation as a CIA-led op, but it now reads: “The involvement of the CIA complemented efforts of the Canadian embassy to free the six held in Tehran. To this day the story stands as an enduring model of international co-operation between governments.” [The Wrap]

Anne Thompson recently posted her first Oscar predictions here and the Gold Derby crew also recently got underway here. By the looks of the Gold Derby pundits’ predictions it’s a race between Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook and Les Miserables for Best Picture. I’m not arguing with the latter two for now, Argo would be the third film I’d add to that mix though.

Speaking of three, Kris Tapley sees The Master, Silver Linings Playbook and Argo as the three films “with the early stranglehold on the 2012-2013 Oscar season.” [Hit Fix]

I’ve added Foreign Language Oscar submissions from Mexico (After Lucia) and Finland (Purge) and the full list is now up to 35 submissions, get it here.
