Joe Carnahan Reveals His ‘Daredevil’ Pitch Reels as the Rights Moves Back to Marvel

Kevin revealed Twitter to reveal his pitch for a new Daredevil movie at Fox wasn’t going to happen. “Think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids,” He added, “We shall see. Time is NOT on anyone’s side.”

Time for Fox definitely isn’t on anyone’s side unless you’re Marvel, side as Variety reports Fox’s request to extend their rights on the Daredevil property have been denied and will have no choice but to allow the rights to go back to Marvel. The deadline at this point to have a film in production is October 10 and it looks like that isn’t happening.

Fox is still planning a Fantastic Four reboot with Chronicle helmer Josh Trank directing as that is also another property that could end up in Marvel’s hands if something doesn’t happen soon, but it has also always seemed like the one of the two Fox has been most keen to keep hold of.

However, out of all of this comes a pretty cool look at what goes on behind-the-scenes as Carnahan has revealed a pair of sizzle reels he prepared for that “Serpico-styled” take on Daredevil. The two reels featured below use footage from the 2003 Daredevil feature starring Ben Affleck along with comic book images and a variety of inserts from other various sources from Bruce Lee films to Taxi Driver. The videos were cut together by Skip Chaisson.

One has been declared NC-17, but it’s not exactly unsafe for work, but if you’re worried go ahead and hit play on the PG-13 version. When you’re done watching, tell me, would you have bought the pitch based on these videos alone?
