Moretz for ‘Carrie,’ PTA’s ‘Master’ in October, ‘Avengers’ Behind-the-Scenes and ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Casting

Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master has officially received an October 12, 2012 release date, which means it’s likely the film will premiere at either the Toronto of Venice Film Festival before its theatrical roll-out. The original story features Philip Seymour Hoffman as a man who returns after witnessing the horrors of WWII and tries to rediscover who he is in post-war America. He creates a belief system, something that catches on with other lost souls. The cast also includes Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Laura Dern, Lena Endre, Jesse Plemons, David Warshofsky, Rami Malek and Joshua Close. [source]

**POTENTIAL SPOILER** Coming Soon has looked at the production notes for Wrath of the Titans and noticed Liam Neeson was confirmed as reprising his role as Ra’s al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. The notes specifically say: “Neeson next appears in Peter Berg’s actioner Battleship, and he also will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated action thriller The Dark Knight Rises.” This bit of casting was previously rumored back in June 2011. The Disney/Pixar Twitter account posted the photo to the right of the Pixar team scouting the Scottish Highlands for inspiration for the upcoming Pixar feature Brave, which hits theaters on June 22. [source]

Vinessa Shaw (Eyes Wide Shut) will join Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Steven Soderbergh‘s erotic thriller Bitter Pill centering on a troubled and depressed woman (Mara) who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs to deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband (Tatum) from prison. I Carrie and yesterday, via Twitter, Moretz herself confirmed she’d landed the role posting:

“Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Pierce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget!”

Moretz will play Carrie White, a shy high-school girl, uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to exact revenge on those who tease her. Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore are rumored to be among the contenders to play her psycho mother. [source]

Emma Watson is set to reteam with her Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 helmer David Yates in Your Voice in My Head and now it’s being reported she’ll star alongside Stanley Tucci in the film, which is ever so close to receiving a greenlight from Warner Bros. with filming expected to take place this summer.

Based on the memoirs by screenwriter Emma Forrest, Your Voice in My Head revolves around a young girl (Watson) who, after the demise of her relationship with a nationally respected journalist, attempts suicide before being saved by a terminally ill psychiatrist (Tucci). [source]

With Chris Pine still attached in the lead role, the continuation of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character on the big screen — in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck — took a big step forward yesterday when Kenneth Branagh singed on to direct following the departure of former helmer, Jack Bender. Tribeca Film Festival announced The Avengers will close this year’s Festival on April 28. The film hits theaters on May 4.
