Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will write the script for DreamWorks’ Cal of the Wild, a comedy that riffs on the reality TV genre, especially such shows as “Survivor.”
Developed internally at DreamWorks, the film revolves around Cal Tanner, the fraudulent star of a cable TV survival show, who is forced to keep himself and his female assistant alive when they’re put in an actual survival situation.
Goldstein, whose credits include writing for CBS sitcom “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” and Fox’s “Bones” and former “Freaks and Geeks” co-star Francis Daley have previously sold their comedy scripts The $40,000 Man and Burt Wonderstone to New Line. They also rewrote Disney’s Hours of Fun.
