Trailer for the George Lucas Produced, World War II Feature ‘Red Tails’ is Here

Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard joined the cast of the George Lucas-produced and Anthony Hemingway-directed World War II feature Red Tails back in April 2009. Since then we’ve hardly heard a peep about the feature, but today we get our first look at the film as the first trailer has debuted in advance of its January 20, 2012 release.

The film is a fictional story inspired by the historic and heroic exploits of America’s first all black aerial combat unit. Along with Gooding Jr. and Howard, the film co-stars Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Method Man, Kevin Phillips, Rick Otto, Lee Tergesen, Andre Royo, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Marcus T. Paulk, Leslie Odom Jr., Michael B. Jordan, Jazmine Sullivan, Edwina Finley, Daniela Ruah and Stacie Davis.

1944. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options — including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies to fight for their country — and the fate of the free world.
