Judi Dench Will Return as M for ‘James Bond 23’

James Bond fansite MI6 has news from the South Bank Sky Arts Awards where Judi Dench was receiving an outstanding achievement accolade and confirmed she will be returning to the world of 007 as M in the upcoming Sam Mendes directed Bond 23, which is currently set for a November 9, 2012 release.

Dench was quoted saying, “Of course, I’m looking forward hugely to working with Daniel [Craig] again and with Sam [Mendes] who I’ve only ever worked with in the theatre. So that’ll be all good fun to do! I’m so glad it’s coming back, it’s wonderful.”

The twenty-third film in the franchise is expected to go into production later this year, but story details are being kept under wraps. Dench wasn’t revealing anything either as she was asked for further details and replied, “[My] lips are sealed. I can’t tell you anything at all!”

This will mark the seventh time Dench has appeared as M in the James Bond franchise, which she first played opposite Pierce Brosnan in Martin Campbells GoldenEye in 1995.
