SlashFilm was the first to report on the following video for a supposedly new Neill Blomkamp (District 9) film in the latest iPad digtial version of WiReD Magazine.
The video below features what looks like a dead alien with a circular stamp on its side which reads “18.12 AGM Heartland Pat Pend USA” and the outer circle reads: “US Inspected And Approved”. SlashFilm did some digging and came across a Beverly Hills-based company named Sable Productions Ltd. that filed for the trademark “AGM Heartland” on October 18, 2010 with the trademark use labeled as:
Entertainment services by way of an online website with video, audio and textual content and images featuring characters and storylines about a fictional genetic engineering company that produces genetically engineered and altered organisms
As Slash indicates, this makes it sound like we’re looking at something that may not be a new film project, but perhaps some kind of web-based project. As for Blomkamp’s film future, the sci-fi project Elysium, of which there are no details. Perhaps this is it and we are simply witnessing the early stages.
