Yikes! Not Feeling this ‘Thor’ Concept Art at All

I guess the main reason I didn’t have anything to say about the Captain America concept art featuring Chris Evans was entirely due to the fact it wasn’t half-bad, because I certainly have something to say about this new concept art debuted by Collider featuring Chris Hemsworth as the title character in Thor (5/6/11). This is all kinds of bad. I typically try and leave my comments on such matters once I see the final movie, since that’s where the magic happens and something that looks as ridiculous as the above photo can ultimately work, but man-oh-man does this look like an ad for a cheesy Halloween costume.

I have included the first actual photo of Hemsworth in costume below for comparison, but you tell me, are you feeling this costume or does it look as silly to you as it does to me?

Of course, this could be a Photoshop manipulation, but the similarity in artistic style to the Captain America art has me convinced it’s legit.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
