Panettiere, Roberts and Culkin Set for ‘Scream 4’ and Kramer in Talks for ‘Kane and Lynch’

Panettiere, Roberts and Culkin Set for Scream 4: Emma Roberts (Valentine’s Day), Hayden Panettiere (“Heroes”) and Rory Culkin (Signs) have all joined the cast of Wes Craven’s Scream 4. Roberts has signed on for the role of Jill, Sidney’s (Campbell) cousin and one of the film’s primary heroines and a spot originally thought may land in the lap of Twilight co-star Ashley Greene. Panettiere will play Jill’s best friend, a nerdy film geek and Culkin will play a potential love interest for Jill. Filming is expected to begin on the project at the end of June with this latest trio joining previously cast Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell as well as the most recent addition of Lake Bell, playing a police officer who knew Sidney in high school. Dimension has already slotted an April 15, 2011 release for the pic. [EW and Variety]

Willis and Fuqua Re-Teaming for The Tomb: Bruce Willis starred for Antoine Fuqua in 2003’s so-so war drama Tears of the Sun and it looks like they may be joining forces once again as Willis is set to star in Summit Entertainment’s prison escape drama The Tomb with Fuqua circling to direct. Miles Chapman (Road House 2) wrote the script with a rewrite by the untested scripter Jason Keller. In the film Willis would play Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural security. After analyzing every high security prison and learning a vast array of survival skills so he can design escape-proof prisons, his skills are put to the test. He’s framed and incarcerated in a master prison he designed himself. He needs to escape and find the person who put him behind bars. [Deadline]

Wayne Kramer In Talks to Direct Kane and Lynch: The video game adaptation Kane and Lynch had a presence at the Cannes Film Festival with Nu Image and Millennium Films posting banners of the Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx starrer around the Croisette. The only thing is, there is yet to be a director attached to the project. Originally, stunt coordinator Simon Crane was expected to make his directorial debut on the feature, but apparently that is no more as a new report has Wayne Kramer (Running Scared) as the new candidate. Production is expected to begin in August, with Willis playing Adam “Kane” Marcus, a mercenary who makes an unlikely alliance with schizophrenic killer James Lynch (Foxx). The pair are forced on a mission to retrieve a stolen microchip. [Latino Review]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turn Platinum: Of all places, I am sure the Internet is the place to go for spewed vitriol at the news Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have been brought aboard to produce the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for Paramount Pictures. The group behind a fleet of ’80s horror remakes most recently including Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street will begin meetings with writers in the next few weeks. [Deadline]
