As an bonus, here are the honorable mentions that could easily be on this list if I happened to be in a different mood today: 3:10 to Yuma (2007), 12 Monkeys (1995), Vanilla Sky (2001), Heat (1995), Father of the Bride (1991), Dawn of the Dead (2004), Floating Weeds (1959), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988), Heaven Can Wait (1978). For one mystifying reason or another I have not seen such well-regarded remakes as The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Fly (1986).
And those films are just the tip of the iceberg as Ben-Hur is not on my list and certainly horror fans in the audience would also likely look toward The Ring or Quarantine. So what are your favorites? There are certainly enough to go around…
