Trailer for Richard Kelly’s ‘The Box’

I seem to be one of the few people in the online world that doesn’t think Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko is a very good movie. However, to continue the insanity I am also one of the few people that didn’t hate Southland Tales. Of course, the C+ I gave Southland in my review will prompt people to say I still didn’t like it all that much, but that’s what happens when you only look at grades and don’t actually read.

Next up for Mr. Kelly is The Box, a film starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as Norma and Arthur, a couple with a young child who receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which promises to deliver its owner $1 million with the press of a button. However, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world… someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and face the true nature of their humanity.

The trailer has just debuted giving us our first look at the feature, give it a watch and weigh in with your thoughts. I would also love to hear some thoughts on Donnie Darko and Southland Tales. Anyone else with me or do I remain in the minority?

The Box will be released by Warner Bros. on October 30 and has been rated PG-13 for thematic elements, some violence and disturbing images.
