Paramount Pictures has put together an interesting team for the videogame adaptation The Wheelman, based on the Ubisoft vidgame in which Vin Diesel serves as the main character and the game’s producer.
Diesel is set to star in the feature with John Singleton being brought aboard to direct. I say it’s interesting because Singleton directed the sequel to the first Fast and the Furious film while Diesel sat that one out. I guess they finally found a way to get together for a film with fast cars.
The story behind Wheelman will have Diesel playing an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. Sounds a little like Fast and Furious doesn’t it? Only instead of getting revenge for a woman from his past he is protecting one.
The script was written by Rich Wilkes who penned the other Diesel starrer xXx back in 2002. The writing team of Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell did a rewrite.
There is no word on a start date.
