‘The Road’ Now Set for an October Release

Perhaps today is the day to find out how October will fill out as my earlier statement saying October was a bit of a no man’s land is getting stuffed down my throat as The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films have updated the information on their corporate site listing The Road with an October 16 release date.

A quick check to the press site for the studio still lists the film as a November 2008 release, but considering the folks we are talking about that doesn’t come as much of a surprise as this is the latest release from the Weinstein bros. to bounce all over the schedule.

I have been hotly anticipating this release which is directed by John Hillcoat and stars Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee in the filmed adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel telling the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father (Mortensen) and his young son (Smit-McPhee) across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth. Charlize Theron, Michael Kenneth Williams, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall also star in smaller roles.

Now we just need a trailer!
