Danny Boyle Not Directing Lady Vengeance

Here’s a strange one. MTV asked Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) about directing a remake of Chan-wook Park’s Lady Vengeance, and this was his response:

“I’ve seen the movie. I’ve seen [Park’s] ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Lady Vengeance,'” the “Slumdog Millionaire” director told MTV News in an exclusive interview outside this year’s Oscars. “But no I was never going to do that. I don’t know where that story came from.”

Well, Mr. Boyle, how about the fact that you yourself first announced that you were asked to direct the remake in a chat at Empire Online? Perhaps he forgot he mentioned it?

Anyways, Boyle has also said in the last couple of days that the rumor he is directing James Bond 23 isn’t true. His rep is quoted as saying: “While Danny says he always has and always will enjoy the Bond movies he has no plans to direct one. Danny is naturally flattered to be thought of!” This is in response to a rumor that he was approached by Barbara Broccoli and Eon to take on the next film.

And now the latest rumor is that Boyle has been asked by Columbia Pictures to helm the remake of My Fair Lady, which has Keira Knightley attached to star. Take that with a grain of salt until it may be officialy announced.
