DVD LIVE BLOG: ‘Hitman’ Unrated!

12:56:01 AM: 47 lives through the massive gun fire, the top of the church does not.

12:56:46 AM: 47 sits down in a chair and surrenders as the secret key opens the door to the room he is in. He knows these Interpol blokes like the back of his hand.

12:57:24 AM: 47 must have a plan. He ain’t going out like a chump is he? Not in shackles.

12:57:38 AM: Mercedes Benz product placement. Love that.

12:59:21 AM: Oh shit, black Audis roll up for more product placement and the CIA is here. It’s a diversion! 47 escapes! Who is this 47?

12:59:39 AM: Text Message to CIA guy: “We are even”.

1:00:00 AM: Back to the beginning as 47 sits in Dougray’s house and chats about killing.

1:01:17 AM: 47 wants the hunt for him called off and offers up a way to call him dead. Fake 47 lies dead on the floor and 47 leaves.

1:01:37 AM: Back in St. Petersburg. It’s Olga!

1:02:10 AM: 47 aims a sniper rifle at her. He just killed another Hitman and the hero shot is revealed.

1:02:19 AM: Roll credits. Guess what, black Interpol agent lived! At least there is something to cheer about.

1:02:59 AM: Honestly, I am not sure what was unrated about this. The theatrical version had its fair share of violence and there were no cocks and no anal scenes.

1:03:37 AM: Checking the special features, there is a Gag Reel, let’s see what that is all about.

1:07:34 AM: Don’t ever watch this gag reel. I am beginning to think this DVD hates me.

1:08:57 AM: There are five deleted scenes, I am going to watch the Alternate Ending

1:11:03 AM: Alternate Ending is almost the same except… instead of 47 saving Olga she actually gets shot and dies. You are going to have to highlight that one if you want to be spoiled.

1:12:30 AM: The featurette “Digital Hits” compares the game to the movie. One quote says, “It should translate better to a movie than other games.” Too bad it didn’t.

1:13:18 AM: Actually, this is a lot of talk about the game and not much about the movie… so far at least.

1:16:10 AM: Yeah, this is all about the game and the background and its influences. I have never played the game, but it actually looks entertaining.

1:18:41 AM: “Instruments of Destruction” focuses on the weapons in the film: Para-Ordnance P18.9, Blaser RS3 LRS2 (I have one of those), M16, FN F2000, Micro Uzi and M240. They do a little shooting and you watch. The guy shooting the P18.9 is a master!

1:20:27 AM: The weapon feature is pretty cool, I will admit that much. The Blaser sniper rifle is demonstrated and blows up a cantaloupe and a jug of water.

1:21:42 AM: “Settling the Score” focuses on Geoff Zanelli’s score, which is a total rip-off of John Powell’s Bourne series score. Let’s see if he admits it.

1:26:41 AM: Nope, no mention, but that’s okay. I am not saying I didn’t like it, I actually did enjoy the score, I just wish he would have said something.

1:27:04 AM: The final featurette, “In the Crosshairs”. I think this is the making-of one.

1:27:34 AM: Yup, that’s it. I am skipping it. Not interested.

1:28:50 AM: DVD junkies may want to know that there is also a DTS track along with the Dolby 5.1.

1:29:49 AM: And, that’s a wrap. No commentary and no other features. I am going to go back and add a few screenshots to beef this bad boy up, add some links and see how this article plays out. If it gets reads I may do this more often as an alternative to the standard DVD review. Later.
