‘National Treasure’ 3 and 4 and ‘Pirates 4’ Rumors Abound

Jim Hill always comes up with interesting and intriguing ways to drop his bits of Disney knowledge and if you don’t believe me check out his “Where’s WALL-E” feature, it’s massive, as is his latest article speculating a National Treasure 3 and 4 and even a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 rumor.

First off, he notes that the URLs…

  • NATIONALTREASURE3DVD.COM
  • NATIONALTREASURE4DVD.COM

…have just been registered by the Walt Disney Company. He also says a rumored National Treasure 3 plotline supposedly sends “the Gates family off to Easter Island and beyond in search of Atlantis. More importantly, the pure, clean power source that was supposedly lost forever when this ancient civilization sank beneath the sea. Which — were it to be harnessed today — would immediately put an end to global warming. Not to mention making gas and oil obsolete.”

Now, there is more to the National Treasure story, but first for the Pirates 4 rumors.

Jim Hill says the rumors have Elizabeth and Will (Knightley and Bloom) being tossed aside in favor of a buddy feature centered on the search for the Fountain of Youth as Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa ultimately team up following a bunch of double-crossing in an effort “to defeat some supernatural terror.”

This leads to the super National Treasure 4 rumor:

“Wouldn’t be funny if — when Benjamin Gates arrived at the Fountain of Youth — he then found Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa? It could be the Disney version of Alien vs. Predator.”

If you think that is the end of it you are wrong. Are you familiar with the wild train ride at Disneyland called Big Thunder Mountain? Well, even more National Treasure speculation sends the Gates family off to the American Southwest in search of a giant mountain and some hidden treasure as four Big Thunder Mountain websites have also been registered by the Mouse House:

  • BIGTHUNDERMOUNTAIN-MOVIE.COM
  • BIGTHUNDERMOUNTAINMOVIE.COM
  • THUNDERMOUNTAIN-MOVIE.COM
  • THUNDERMOUNTAINMOVIE.COM

Oh, It’s a lot of speculation, but it is some fun speculation… Do you agree or are you tired of Pirates and not a huge fan of National Treasure?

On a side note, Disney Home Entertainment has set a release date of May 20th for a Blu-ray edition of the first National Treasure and I would expect an announcment soon to have National Treasure: Book of Secrets released the same day on Blu-ray and DVD.
