‘Street Fighter’ Has Its Chun Li

Early reports surrounding the Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li feature adaptation said that Jessica Alba and Keira Knightley had passed on the role of Chun Li and that at one time Jessica Biel was thought to be the front-runner. Of course, Jessica Biel doesn’t need to prance around in some silly costume in yet another soon-to-be-disastrous videogame adaptation. However, ComingSoon has learned what actress isn’t high profile enough to turn it down.

The site reports that “Smallville” actress, Kristin Kreuk, will play Chun-Li as the story based on the Capcom vid will follow the female fighter and her journey for justice.

Justin Marks penned the script and Doom helmer Andrzej Bartkowiak will direct as production is expected to get underway in Thailand in March.

No surprise here, 20th Century Fox will distribute. The film is hoping for a 2008 release to coincide with the game’s 20th anniversary.
