Chatwin and Marsters Join ‘Dragon Ball Z’

The fanboy sites seem to be excited about the upcoming film adaptation Dragon Ball Z, but until today I didn’t even know what it was. If I had to guess I would have said it was some kind of extreme Rollerball game, but apparently it is a piece of Japanese manga and 20th Century Fox has nabbed it up and attached a director.

James Wong (Final Destination) is set to direct from a script he penned with Justin Chatwin and James Marsters aboard to star. Chatwin is probably best known as Tom Cruise’s kid in War of the Worlds and Marsters was bad boy Spike on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”.

In the film Chatwin will star as Goku, a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. Marsters is onboard as the film’s villain Piccolo.

Shooting is set to begin later this month and the film is set to hit theaters August 15, 2008.
