Philip Seymour Hoffman must be loving life in his post-Oscar win era as just the mere mention of his name attracts attention. This time his name has found its way to the Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts starrer Charlie Wilson’s War for director Mike Nichols and in the Sidney Lumet directed drama Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.
Wilson’s War was adapted from the George Crile book by “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin and tells the story of a rogue congressman and CIA agent who found the means to secretly arm rebels to fight against invading Soviet troops in Afghanistan in the early 1980s. Hoffman will play the CIA agent. That pic begins shooting on October 10.
However, before the War comes The Devil as Hoffman will first shoot Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, a film about brothers who try to rob their parents’ jewelry store, only to botch the job.
