DVD DOWNLOAD: #24

Check out DVD DOWNLOAD Issue #23 HERE

Nope, I didn’t post a DVD DOWNLOAD last week and it was only because there wasn’t enough new DVDs to mention. So, I delayed and boy do I have a doosy for you today. Thanks to DVD Active we have release dates for the season two TV DVD sets for “Lost,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy” along with a couple other TV DVD sets you will take interest in.

We also have news on another Blu-ray title, I have added artwork for the Underworld: Evolution Blu-ray disc and I am here to tell you that I expect to be diving DEEP into the world of HD DVD this weekend as Warner has equipped me with all five of their initial HD DVD releases and I am about ready to fire up the plasma and give you the goods, and trust me I have A LOT to say and some serious advice you should take to heart. I hope to have it in full feature form on Monday. I hope.

But for now, let’s dive into this week’s DOWNLOAD!

THE LATEST DVDS
Grey’s Anatomy (Season 2)

September 12th

I am really looking forward to this one as I was semi-upset when I remembered “Grey’s Anatomy” was a mid-season pick-up, which meant the first season wasn’t going to be a full season. So I felt teased. After watching the first season I saw serious potential, but I think the second season is going to seal the deal either one way or the other. Based on the opinions I have been getting from friends I have a feeling I am going to love it, but I have to keep my opinions unbiased.

Desperate Housewives (Season 2)

August 29th

Now “Desperate Housewives” is a different story from “Grey’s Anatomy”. This show had a fantastic first season and now it comes time to see if the second season can live up to the first, or at least sit side-by-side with the first. I have heard from people that it is not as good, which is a bit upsetting, but I still have faith it will be watchable.

Lost (Season 2)

October 3rd

The last of the Buena Vista Home Entertainment TV series just announced to DVD is “Lost,” a show that I am a bit confused as to how people have attached themselves to it. Don’t get me wrong, it is a good show, but the minor cliffhangers and flashbacks are just frustrating. Watching this show on DVD is the only way to watch it, much like “Alias” and “24.” How people can tune in each week only to be left with a massive cliffhanger for sometimes weeks at a time is very confusing to me.

Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Complete Fifth Season

August 1st

Now this series I have limited experience with, I have only seen a couple of episodes and don’t plan on reviewing this season. It is not because I don’t find it funny, it just doesn’t appeal to me as much as others and reviewing a TV DVD set takes time and I would rather reserve that time to a few of my other favorites, but for those of you that are into it August 1st will be your day to head to the store.

Edison Force

July 11th

This flick made its way to a few film festivals and it looks like no one found it to be good enough to pick it up and release it theatrically. Therefore Sony has snatched up home video rights, added “Force” to the title and given it a July 11th release date. Considering the cast includes Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, LL Cool J and Justin Timberlake in his feature film debut I am surprised it is getting this kind of treatment.

One Last Thing…

May 23rd

Now this one looks actually quite funny and if you haven’t watched the six clips I posted online you should really take the time. The pic tells the story of 16 year-old Dylan Jameison (Michael Angarano) who has terminal cancer and is getting one last wish and he choses to spend a weekend with the supermodel Nikki Sinclair (Sunny Mabrey) and once you see this chick I don’t think your can blame him.

This pic is one of those to the theaters, TV and then DVD quick turnarounds as it hits movie screens on May 5 and then to DVD on May 23rd. It looks like a better DVD pick-up, as it does look like it may be worth a watch.

Carnivale: The Complete Second Season

July 18th

I have no idea what is going on when a very quirky and cool show like “Carnivàle” gets cancelled, but that is unfortunately what happened with this HBO series, and while I haven’t seen the second season yet I did really enjoy the first as it has a much different way of telling a story than many other films and it is a show you can watch over and over again and find new and interesting bits. I guess we will have at least two seasons on DVD and the cool Warner Home Video packaging to keep us comfort.

Failure To Launch

June 27th

Here we have a movie that has kicked much ass at the box-office as it has made $86.6 million at the box to date and I would say for a rom-com that ain’t to shabby. Considering I haven’t seen it, I can’t comment, but I guess some people like it.

Ultraviolet (Blu-ray Disc)

June 27th

I said I added the another Blu-ray title and here it is, the movie I continue to hear from peoplee was absolutely horrible. Do I have anything more to say? Nope. It was yet another film from Sony they decided not to screen for critics, I guess they made a good choice.

Aquamarine

June 13th

Maybe if I was 12 and a young girl I would have something to say about this flick, but since I am neither of those two things I am really at a loss for what to say. So… uh… here are the features…

Now this flick ain’t half bad and it will make a good rental for some folks, I actually thought it was a pretty darn good flick to see in the theater even though the bottom sort of fell out of it at the end.
