Another edition of the DOWNLOAD is upon us and before we get into it I should mention that I have added artwork for three of the Warner Home Video HD DVD releases, click the following titles to check ’em out: The Last Samurai, Million Dollar Baby and The Phantom of the Opera.

Now, with that out of the way let’s get to the rest…

THE LATEST DVDS
ER (Season Five)

June 6th

Added just today is the fifth season of the hit television show “ER”. To be honest this is around the time I quit watching this show as cast members began to leave the production and we all knew that once Clooney left it was never going to be the same.
Big Momma’s House 2

May 9th

Less than four months after its release the $68 million grossing Big Momma’s House 2 will come home to DVD and this is one reviewer that couldn’t care less. This film falls right in line with the numerous like it that I just don’t have any interest in. This is not to say they aren’t any good, there is an audience for films like this or they wouldn’t be made, take The Shaggy Dog for instance, not my cup o’ tea, but it still managed $37 million since its March 10 release date. Okay, maybe that wasn’t the best example, but I expect it to make about $20 million more before it is out of theaters.

Running Scared

June 6th

The first time someone told me their opinion on this feature it was nothing but bad news, but since then I have heard a lot of good things so I will be throwing my name into the review hat on Running Scared as I hope it lives up to its reputation as a hard-R action feature.

Brokeback Mountain

April 4th

Winner of three Oscars, Brokeback Mountain is foregoing the chance at more box-office dollars as it makes ready for a DVD release on April 4, but based on the features listed I think we can certainly count on a 2-disc special edition later this year.

Platoon (20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition)

Riddick Trilogy

May 30th

Oh yeah, a mediocre set of films in a cool looking collection as Universal may be trying to test the waters on just how much audiences adore the shiny-eyed anti-hero of the Riddick trilogy. There has been talk of a third and fourth Riddick film and good sales on this set would certainly help move those along.

I am trying to remember the last time I watched Dumbo and for the life of me I can’t do it. After all, who would I be to pass up the opportunity to revist good Disney animation considering all the crap they have been churning out lately.

Nine to Five – Sexist, Egotistical, Lying Hypocritical Bigot Edition

April 4th

I have nothing to say for this one. I just added it to the database and I also just received a review copy in the mail along with a “9 to 5” mug and an odd bit of packaging having to do with rat poison. I am sure that has something to do with the movie, but considering I have never seen it I can’t tell you. Maybe I will have to subject myself to some old school Dolly Parton, I guess it couldn’t hurt to stare at her breasts for a couple hours eh?
