Tons of Names Added to Kelly’s ‘Tales’

I love how they call Richard Kelly‘s next flick Southland Tales an indie film. First of all, Kelly’s name is huge in the entertainment industry thanks to his break-out cult classic Donnie Darko, he was then tapped as the scribe for the upcoming Keira Knightley starrer Domino being directed by Tony Scott and he is following that up with Southland Tales of which he wrote and will direct.

The film already stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Seann William Scott and Sarah Michelle Gellar and according to The Hollywood Reporter Cheri Oteri, Amy Poehler and Jill Ritchie have now joined the cast, but wait, it doesn’t stop there. The article goes on to tell us that Miranda Richardson, John Larroquette, Jon Lovitz, Will Sasso, Wood Harris, Bai Ling, Joe Campana and Wallace Shawn.

The film is set in Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as the city stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Johnson will star as an amnesiac action star whose life intertwines with an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy. Oteri will play a villainous lesbian bodybuilder, while Ritchie will play a porn star and the best friend of Gellar’s character.

If you have some time to spare, I would recommend you check out the official site for the flick over here and get ready to explore.

All this, all those names, graphic novels coming in 2006 and they still call it an indie? The budget must be miniscule…
