‘Copacabana: The Musical’ Starring Jamie Foxx?

The Digital Spy is carrying a story leading readers to believe that Barry Manilow is interested in making a movie version of his Copacabana musical.

Based upon the singer’s hit from the 70s the movie would tell a tale of love, jealousy and murder between characters Tony, Lola (she was a showgirl) and Rico. I have to wonder if it will also be only four minutes long and quickly just go through the lyrics.

On top of such an odd idea, Manilow has also stated he would like Jamie Foxx to play the part of Tony Parker.

The idea isn’t complete rumor as Sky News is carrying a story quoting Manilow saying, “The whole concept is ready to go, but as yet Jamie is tied up with Miami Vice. But with him on board we have a smash hit film.”

Sure you will…

SCENE ONE:

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl

With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there

She would merengue and do the cha-cha

And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar

Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4

They were young and they had each other

Who could ask for more?

…and… CUT! Prep for Scene Two… Where is Rico, can I get his diamond over here people?
