De Palma is ‘Untouchable’

It seems Antoine Fuqua just can’t stay attached to a feature as he once again is bumped, this time making way for Brian De Palma as he is set to revisit on of the features that gained him early directorial fame.

De Palma directed the Oscar-winning picture The Untouchables and now Paramount is readying the way to continue the story as De Palma and producer Art Linson are ready to tell the tail of Al Capone’s rise to criminal kingpin status in The Untouchables: Capone Rising.

We first learned of the feature back in August ’04 when Rounders scribes, David Levien and Brian Koppelman, got to work on the script centering on Capone and the early version of Irish cop Jimmy Malone, who is as crooked as every other Chicago cop until Capone becomes king of the underworld.

The script is still being worked on but hope is to begin production on the film next year.
