Horror website Bloody-Disgusting brought word of this info recently, but now Variety brings the rest as confirmation comes forth that music video helmer, Dave Meyers, will be directing the upcoming remake of the 1986 classic horror The Hitcher with Jake Wade Wall set to pen for Platinum Dunes and Focus Features.
The first flick starred C. Thomas Howell as a teen who picks up the hitchhiker from hell (Rutger Hauer), a serial killer who torments the youth by implicating him in each of his crimes.
Meyers is apparently well regarded in the musicvid industry, he just directed Julia Roberts in an upcoming clip for the Dave Matthews Band.
The Variety story also tells us that Focus’ genre house Rogue Pictures also is in development with Dunes on pics The Horseman and The Surrogate.
