DVD DOWNLOAD: #12

Check out DVD DOWNLOAD Issue #11 HERE

Last week was way too slow for me to even to a DOWNLOAD, but this morning DVD Times and DVD Answers posted a bevy of good updates that give us enough information to do Issue #12 of the DVD DOWNLOAD, so let’s recap the past couple of weeks.

ADDED THIS WEEK
The Longest Yard

(September 20th)

Still doing well in theaters, raking in over $134 million so far the remake of The Longest Yard starring Adam Sandler will come to DVD on September 20th, and we even have some special features and links to preorder it, check the features below and click here to buy it now.

• Audio commentary with director Peter Segal

The Truman Show (Special Collector’s Edition)

(August 23rd)

Paramount Home Entertainment has also announced the release of a special edition of Jim Carrey’s The Truman Show. Now Paramount’s special editions have pretty much been more of a double dipping effort more than a “special” release, but every so often they add something worth checking out. Check out the features below and decide for yourself, if you like what you see, click here to order own for yourself.

• Two-Part Documentary: “The Making of The Truman Show

• Four Deleted/Extended Scenes

• Photo Gallery

• 2 Theatrical Trailers

• 2 TV Spots
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

(September 13th)

Up next is Touchstone’s release of the disappointing Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a movie that disappointed fans of the books and those that were not as it only pulled in just under $50 million at the box-office. Nevertheless, there is always potential for a good DVD edition and while the features for this one have not been announced I have a hunch that there will be something special in store for fans of “The Guide” especially. The DVD hits shelves on September 13th.

The Interpreter

(October 4th)

Another disappointment this year was Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn in The Interpreter. Despite two great actors and an intriguing plotline this one ultimately turned into a talky bust, but the DVD offers up an alternate ending, maybe the way the movie “should” have ended was left on the cutting room floor. Check out the special features below, and click here to preorder one for yourself.

• Audio commentary with director Sydney Pollack

• Alternate Ending

• Deleted Scenes

• Sydney Pollack at Work: From Concept to Cutting Room

• Interpreting Pan & Scan vs. Widescreen

• The Ultimate Movie Set: The United Nations

• A Day in the Life of Real Interpreters
INSIDE Deep Throat (NC-17 and R-rated Versions)

(September 20th)

Inside Deep Throat examines the cultural impact of the 1972 adult film Deep Throat. Generally considered the most profitable film of all time, Deep Throat was routinely released in a midtown Manhattan adult theater in June 1972 but soon became the flashpoint for an unprecedented social and political firestorm.

Honestly I don’t care about this film at all, and as far as the DVD goes you have the chance to go R-rated and get a toned down version of the film and only a few special features or with the NC-17 rated, which will give you what you expect as well as all features you see below.

· The Binghamton Trial: Cliterally Speaking

· Beverly Hills: Holly Gets Wood

· Quincy House: Poison Ivy League

· Princeton: Throat Deep in the Suburbs

· Cut Throat: Where in the World is Bobby De Salvo?

· Harry Reems’ Athletic Club

· Fire Dance With Me

· Women Against Pornography

· Linda’s Exit: What’s the Big Deal?

Features exclusive to the NC-17 version:

· The Tucson Trial: When Gerry Met Annie

· The Zen of Deep Throat

· Linda Does Hollywood

· The Legends of Erotica: Remembering Linda

· The Last Word For Now

(August 30th)

This “Special Delivery Edition” will include the features you see below, and if you like what you see you can click here to preorder it, it is only $13.99 at Amazon.
