Leads Cast in Wan’s ‘Silence’

James Wan’s next feature is shaping up nicely as his horror flick for Universal Pictures, Silence, has found its two leads in Amber Valletta and Ryan Kwanten.

Silence tells the story of Jamie Ashen (Kwanten), a man who has had the finger pointed at him by those that feel he had to something to do with his wife’s murder. Ashen knows the truth – his wife received a strange ventriloquist’s dummy and it’s what caused her death. Ashen returns to the scene of the crime, the town of Raven’s Fair, and encounters Mary Shaw (Valetta), a wronged and abused ventriloquist who now supposedly haunts the town, cutting out her victims’ tongues and stealing their voices in vengeance for her own loveless past. Swept up in destructive supernatural forces beyond his control, Jamie is determined to get to the heart of the matter – whatever the cost.

Kwanten is probably best known for his role as Jay on WB’s “Summerland” while Valetta is probably best known for her legs as the supermodel turned actress was recently seen in Hitch and will next be seen opposite Jason Statham in The Transporter 2.

As for Silence, Wan penned the script along with his Saw buddy Leigh Wannell and the picture is set to begin filming later this summer in Toronto.
