Lynch Creates an ‘Inland Empire’

First we get word that David Fincher is full steam ahead on Zodiac as his cast is filling out nicely and now we get word that David Lynch has already begun production on his next flick and has been shooting it under the radar for TWO YEARS!!!

The film, titled INLAND EMPIRE (and yes, it is supposed to be all caps), stars Laura Dern, Justin Theroux, Harry Dean Stanton, Jeremy Irons and a bunch of others that Lynch wouldn’t reveal to Variety as he is taking the Woody Allen approach concerning the film and being quite clandestine in several matters.

He does tell Variety, “It’s about a woman in trouble, and it’s a mystery, and that’s about all I want to say about it.” The article does go on to say that the title refers to the bleak residential area on the edge of the desert near L.A.

The film is being shot 100 percent digitally and, for the most part, was shot in Poland, but he has now moved back into and around L.A. for the rest of the shoot and word is financier, StudioCanal, is aiming for a world premiere at Cannes next year.
