More ‘Casino Royale’ Rumblings

CommanderBond.net is reporting that Prague will be the primary location for the upcoming Bond film Casino Royale.

The filming will take place at Barrandov studios where such films as XXX and Van Helsing were shot. According to the article One can only speculate about the reasons for moving to Prague. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but it seems that Barrandov studios are much cheaper than legendary Pinewood. Additionally, taxes are not as high as in Britain.

In other news, James Bond candidate, Daniel Craig, has been getting mixed messages about his chances of playing the legendary James Bond in Casino Royale. An article from Guardian Unlimited quotes Craig saying, “It was a surreal time to have the studio phoning you up saying you’ve got the job and then the Broccolis (the franchise’s producers) saying nothing,” the British actor explained. “I don’t know what the deal is. There’s a lot of rumours floating around. It’s not a bad position to be in. If even half of them or a third of them are true, it’s not a bad position to be in. I got a text message on my phone saying, ‘Congratulations…’ That was news to me.”

Whoever plays James Bond and wherever they are filming it, they’ve got 18 months to get it together.
