Seinfeld ‘Bee Movie’ Gets Date and Cast

Only a few days ago it was announced that Renée Zellweger was joining the cast of Jerry Seinfeld‘s upcoming animated project Bee Movie over at DreamWorks Animation and now it seems Bee Movie is getting the Shark Tale treatment along with a November 2, 2007 release date.

By Shark Tale treatment I am referring to the fact that DW seems to be casting only A-List actors in their animated flicks creating a very recognizeable menagerie of characters and Bee Movie will be no different as Variety reports that Uma Thurman, Kathy Bates, Alan Arkin, Robert Duvall, William H. Macy, Tim Blake Nelson, Patrick Warburton and Oprah Winfrey will all voice roles in the film. That’s right Patrick Warburton, probably best known as Puddy on the popular “Seinfeld” sitcom, oh… and all those other names too.

Variety also has our first read of the synopsis of the pic saying that the film is the comedic tale of Barry B. Benson (Seinfeld), a graduate bee fresh out of college who is disillusioned at having only one career choice: honey. On a rare trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa (Zellweger), a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans are mass consumers of honey and decides to sue the human race for stealing bees’ honey.

We also learn that Steve Hickner (The Prince of Egypt) is directing the film with Shrek 4-D helmer Simon J. Smith, who is making his feature film directorial debut.
