‘Butterfly Effect 2’, Really?

Probably the most disturbing news of the day is that Filmengine has approved a pitch for a Butterfly Effect 2 flick that New Line actually has plans to distribute and considering the fact that the film will have all new stars, so no Ashton and no Amy Smart, this looks like it may be a direct-to-video release.

Apparently the story will follow a new character who, like Kutcher in the first, finds he can travel through time. As he changes past events, though, they have unexpected consequences in the present.

Sounds like the first one, I guess DVD sales weren’t enough.

The script is apparently so good that the film is on the fast track and casting is expected to begin as soon as the script is delivered with shooting expected to begin by the fall.
