Fuqua, ‘Alone’ with Gibson

Antoine Fuqua, the director with so much to potential if he is just given a chance, is readying himself to direct Mel Gibson‘s next, Under and Alone.

The film is based on the true story of Vietnam vet William Queen, who channeled his Special Forces training into undercover work with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and became a full-fledged member of the San Fernando chapter of the Mongols motorcycle gang.

Fuqua was recently readying himself for his second outing with Denzel Washington, Universal’s American Gangster, when the film fell through due to budget issues.

Under and Alone will mark Fuqua’s first film since last year’s lackluster King Arthur and will be Gibson’s first starring role since M. Knight Shyamalan’s Signs, and for you nit-pickers The Singing Detective does not count.
