Three Attached to ‘Bridge’

Barry Levinson has signed on to direct Anthony LaPaglia, Scarlett Johansson and Frances McDormand in a bigscreen adaptation of Arthur Miller’s play A View From the Bridge.

LaPaglia seems to have been the one to get this all moving as he recently obtained the permission from Miller, who died last week, to license the play. He also brought on Andrew Bovell to adapt the story for the screen.

The story itself centers around Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie (LaPaglia), whose infatuation with his niece strains his relationship with his wife and ultimately creates a scandal when the teenager falls for a cousin from Sicily.
