Penn Joins ‘Superman’

Bryan Singer‘s Superman Returns is full steam ahead as one more name is added to the cast.

Kal Penn, whom you may recognize from Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle and Van Wilder has joined the cast according to Mira Nair and Rediff.com.

Penn is currently aboard the Mira Nair project The Namesake and Nair was nothing short of singing the actor’s praise as she was quoted as describing Penn as “fastest rising Indian American star this side of the ocean.”

The Superman news also came from Nair as she said, “Kal’s film Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle was a hit and all the 13-year-olds in America know and love him… Namesake will be his first dramatic role. He is an extraordinary actor. He has just signed on as Superman’s best friend in the new movie called Superman Returns. As soon as he finishes shooting for Namesake, he will shoot for that. So by the time Namesake comes out next year, everyone will know Kal Penn, which will be great for us!”

Superman Returns is set for a release sometime in 2006, for more on the cast click here.
