Over a year after being listed as the director on the strike memo that was circulated around major talent agencies, Gary Winick has finally been confirmed for Summit Entertainment’s Rat Bastard, a Heather McGowan-scripted comedy that Niels Mueller is rewriting.
Ellen Barkin and Caroline Kaplan are producing through Applehead Pictures. Shooting is scheduled to begin early next year.
The title character is a conman who plots revenge when his old partner steals the loot from their latest grift and hides out by posing as a chef for a family on New York’s Upper East Side.
Winick most recently wrapped Bride Wars and also directed Charlotte’s Web and 13 Going on 30.
