Tim Roth will star in the title role of Sky One’s drama “Skellig,” which will be released theatrically following its TV premiere next spring, reports Variety.
“Skellig,” directed by Annabel Jankel and based on David Almond’s hit tyke novel, also stars Kelly MacDonald, Bill Milner (Rambow) and John Simm (“Life on Mars”).
Set in the North of England, the film recounts the story of a boy (Milner) who finds the mystical Skellig — part owl, part angel — living in the garage of his new home.
MacDonald and Simm play the boy’s parents.
The film began principal photography in Cardiff, Wales, on Tuesday.
