A24 and David S. Goyer Team Up for New Horror Film

A24 and David S. Goyer team up for horror film

A24 announced today that it is teaming with filmmaker David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Blade, The Unborn) and his production company Phantom Four, led by President Kevin Turen, to bring a high concept original idea to screen. Described as “an elevated horror story in a very unique setting,” the film will be directed by Marc Munden (“Utopia,” The Mark of Cain). This project will be part of A24’s growing development slate with Eva Maria Daniels of VisionChaos Productions. David S. Goyer and Kevin Turen will produce, alongside A24 and Daniels.

Munden has a long history of celebrated television work in the UK, including the mini-series “The Crimson Petal and The White,” and recently culminating in his work on the groundbreaking “Utopia” series. He is also slated to direct the sci-fi thriller script Aether for FilmNation.

The project is being written by the writing team of Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski. Collins and Piotrowski are heating up at the moment with Akiva Goldsman’s Stephanie currently in post-production at Universal. They are also developing two other acclaimed adaptations: the graphic novel TAG for Fox and Boom! Studios, with John Leonetti (Annabelle) attached to direct, and the supernatural novel Head Full of Ghosts for Focus Features and Team Downey.

About the project, A24 said, “We could not feel luckier to be working with this group of master class filmmakers; it’s truly a perfect team. This is an incredibly inventive, ambitious take on a horror movie and we can’t wait to share more about it with the world.”

Producer David S. Goyer said, “We’re incredibly excited to be a part of this special film. Marc’s helming of UTOPIA was hands down among the most impressive directing pieces I’ve seen in quite some time. As for A24, when I realized that several of my favorite films over the last few years were housed under one roof, I knew I had to be in business with them. We’re honored to be working together with Marc and A24, and look forward to making something great.”
