Foursome Forms The Fifth Mafia

The Hollywood Reporter says Joe Mantegna, Eric Balfour and Armand Assante have been cast and James Van Der Beek is in negotiations to star in the indie feature The Fifth Mafia.

Vito J. Giambalvo is directing the crime drama, which centers on the son (Balfour) of a murdered Mafioso. The son, who never had any involvement in the family business, seeks revenge on his corrupt Uncle Dominic (Assante) for the murder of his parents. Eventually, his quest sends him on a collision course with the FBI after he ruins the life of one of the bureau’s agents (Van Der Beek). Mantegna will play Mario, a member of the Dominic Lucido crime family.

Miles A. Robinson, Paul Olsen and Philip M. Olsen wrote the script based on a story by Philip Olsen.

Production is set to begin at the end of March.
