Pee-wee’s Big Holiday Adds Joe Manganiello, Reveals Set Photos

Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, the new movie that continues the adventures of Paul Reuben’s iconic character, has today revealed that Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello has joined the cast. What’s more, Pee-wee’s own official site has revealed several stills from the production, all of which you can check out in the gallery viewer below!

Pee-wee’s Big Holiday marks the feature film directorial debut of John Lee (“Broad City,” “Inside Amy Schumer”) and features a screenplay by Reubens and Paul Rust. Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, Knocked Up) produces the film, which will premiere exclusively in all Netflix territories.

The storyline is said to focus on a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger who inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday.

“Joe’s already my friend in real life,” Herman writes, “and he’s tremendously talented and a terrific person! I am so glad we are FINALLY going to get to work together! This totally makes up for being cut out of ‘Magic Mike’ and ‘Magic Mike 2’!”

“Paul Reubens is one of the great comic geniuses of our time,” adds  Manganiello. “Growing up, my Saturday mornings were all about Pee-wee Herman. I saw everything he did. I can’t believe that I’m going to get to share scenes with one of the iconic figures of my childhood.”

Pee-wee Herman previously starred in Tim Burton’s 1985 smash Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, which was followed on the big screen by Big Top Pee-wee in 1988. On the small screen, “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” ran for five seasons with Herman recently returning for “The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway” in 2011.

Pee-wee’s Big Holiday will debut exclusively on Netflix in all territories.
