SXSW: Alchemy Acquires Moonwalkers, Starring Ron Perlman & Rupert Grint

Alchemy has acquired all North American rights to director Antoine Bardou-Jacquet’s riotous action-comedy Moonwalkers, starring Ron Perlman, Rupert Grint and Robert Sheehan, at the 2015 South by Southwest Film Festival. The announcement was made today by Alchemy CEO Bill Lee.

“’Moonwalkers’ is a wildly imaginative, one-of-a-kind action movie,” said Lee. “Antoine Bardou-Jacquet has crafted something truly original that we look forward to bringing to a wide audience.”

“I’m so pleased to be working with a distributor as passionate about our film as we are,” said producer Georges Bermann. “We’re very excited to work with Alchemy in the next steps of bringing ‘Moonwalkers’ to audiences.”

Added co-producer Grégoire Melin, “I’m very happy that ‘Moonwalkers’ will be one of the first films to go out through Bill’s new venture. We’re incredibly proud to have made such an original film from one of France’s future grand talents.”

What if Apollo 11 never actually made it? What if, in reality, Stanley Kubrick secretly shot the famous images of the moon landing in a studio, working for the US administration? This is the premise of a totally plausible conspiracy theory that takes us to swinging sixties London, where a stubborn CIA agent (Perlman) will never find Kubrick but instead is forced to team up with a lousy manager (Grint) of a seedy rock band to develop the biggest con of all time.

Moonwalkers was written by Dean Craig, Georges Bermann of Partizan Films produced and Sylvain Goldberg, Serge de Poucques, Peter de Maegd, Tom Hameeuw and Grégoire Melin served as co-producers.
