Halle Berry to Headline Action-Comedy Mother

Universal Pictures has secured the big screen rights to an action-comedy pitch titled Mother that has Halle Berry set to star. Deadline has the news, reporting that Man on a Ledge scribe Pablo Fenjves is attached to provide the screenplay. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on exactly what the plot might be. Feel free to pitch out your own ideas in the comments below!

Berry is set to play a mother, however, in her next project. Kidnap, which hits theaters October 9, is said to feature the Oscar winner as a mother who will stop at nothing to rescue her kidnapped son. Lew Temple, Sage Correa and Chris McGinn also star in the Luis Prieto film.

In addition to making a brief appearance as Ororo Monroe (aka Storm) in last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, Berry has been busy on the small screen where she headlines the CBS sci-fi series “Extant,” starring as an astronaut who returns from a 13 month solo mission only to find that’s she has somehow become pregnant. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, “Extant” is set to return for a second season later this year.

Berry is also attached to produce Mother alongside her 606 Films Production partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.
