Singleton Confirmed for The A-Team

Director John Singleton has confirmed to BlackVoices.com a rumor that first appeared at LatinoReview.com and IESB.net – he is directing the big screen adaptation of TV series “The A-Team.”

The series, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz, followed an unofficial team of Vietnam vets who will stop at nothing to get the bad guys. Sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit, these four commandos escaped from a maximum-security stockade and now survive in the Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune.

Thew new version will be updated from the Vietnam era and reflect contemporary issues and politics. Stephen J. Cannell, who created the show, will produce the movie with Spike Seldin. Mark Silvestri will executive produce.

Singleton added that he will not be directing Executive Order: Six, as was previously reported.
