Lionsgate Announces Chinese Release for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

After grossing nearly $700 million worldwide, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is finally making its way into one of the biggest global markets for films… China. Lionsgate announced the Jennifer Lawrence-starring dystopian fantasy will be given a February 8 release in over 4,000 theatres across the country, the biggest rollout for the Hunger Games franchise to date in China, as well as the first installment to be released in 3D.

As part of the film’s Chinese launch, Jennifer Lawrence has recorded a special greeting for “The Hunger Games” fans in China and a new Chinese trailer has also been cut for the territory. The film will be imported to China by China Film Group and jointly distributed by China Film Group, Huaxia Film Distribution and Lionsgate’s Beijing-based promotional partner Talent International Film Co. Ltd.

The worldwide phenomenon of “The Hunger Games” continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film also stars Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Natalie Dormer, Stef Dawson, Evan Ross, Lily Rabe, Patina Miller, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson and Robert Knepper.
