Bloody-Disgusting.com reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Oscar-nominated Irish director Ruairi Robinson to helm the big screen Akira adaptation. Robinson received a nomination in 2001 for his animated short film Fifty Percent Grey.
Akira is a cyberpunk serial manga by Katsuhiro Otomo. An identically titled anime film adaptation was released in 1988. You can learn more about Akira here.
