Warner Bros. Snags Murray at Large

Warner Bros. has bought Murray at Large, a comedy pitch by Todd Phillips and Jeremy Garelick, for Phillips to produce and direct.

The comedy revolves around Murray Farkus, a pillar of his community who, when falsely accused of an unspeakable crime, goes on the run to clear his name and reputation. The story is loosely based on Phillips’ own Uncle Murray.

Phillips will write with Garelick after tackling The Hangover, a spec script by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore that WB recently acquired for more than $2 million for him to direct. The studio is fast-tracking that project as a potential pre-strike movie.
