Universal Books The Night Tourist

Universal has bought big screen rights to the children’s novel The Night Tourist. Chris Meledandri’s new animation and family company will develop the adaptation for the studio.

Katherine Marsh’s young adult book, published by Hyperion Children’s last month, revolves around a ninth-grade classics prodigy who discovers New York’s underworld with the help of a girl he meets at Grand Central Station. He discovers many secrets about his pal while searching for a glimpse of his late mother in this secret world.

Meledandri, Courtney Pledger and John Cohen are producing. No writer has been attached yet.
