Terry Zwigoff Helming The $40,000 Man

New Line has signed Terry Zwigoff to direct The $40,000 Man, a comedy spoof set up with Benderspink, reports Variety.

The story centers on a legendary astronaut and true American hero who finds himself horribly injured in a car accident and rebuilt by the government to be a bionic man, but on a budget of $40,000 — which makes him not all that bionic. Chris Bender and JC Spink are producing; Jake Weiner executive produces.

Zwigoff is rewriting the script with Daniel Clowes, who teamed with him on Art School Confidential. The duo also received an Oscar nomination for writing Ghost World.
