Downey Jr. Turns The Soloist into a Duet

According to Variety, Robert Downey Jr. will be joining Jamie Foxx in the DreamWorks drama The Soloist, playing Steve Lopez, the L.A. Times columnist who discovered that a schizophrenic homeless man named Nathaniel Ayers (played in the film by Foxx) was actually a skillful violinist.

Lopez wrote a number of columns about Ayers as well as a book which will be published next spring, and their story was adapted by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) for the film, which will be directed by Joe Wright, helmer of Pride & Prejudice and the upcoming Atonement.
