Ashley Judd is in talks to join the cast of writer-director Wayne Kramer’s ensemble immigration drama Crossing Over for The Weinstein Company, says Variety.
Already starring are Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Sean Penn and Cliff Curtis. Frank Marshall, Kramer and Gregg Taylor are producing.
Set in Los Angeles, the storyline revolves around immigrants from different countries and backgrounds who share a common bond in desperately trying to gain legal status.
Judd will play an immigration defense attorney who is trying to arrange the adoption of a Nigerian girl.
More cast members are expected to be added to the film, with some, like Penn, making only a brief appearance. Kramer is set to begin shooting later this month in L.A.
